Verse:
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of Life, and he who wins souls is wise.
Proverbs 11:30 NKJV
Thought:
Evangelism, as defined by Pastor Pete Sunday, is inviting people into a relationship with Jesus by sharing my story, inviting them to church, or serving them in Jesus’ name. What a great explanation on evangelism! These are things that each and every believer not only can do but must do. Introvert or extravert, there are ways each of us can evangelize. As pastor Pete pointed out, some forms of evangelism require regular engagement with people, and many examples of evangelism require little to no engagement but involve serving. There are opportunities that involve large and small service groups, a perfect fit for everyone.
Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. Proverbs 29:25
“When our identity and our values come from God and not the opinions of men and women, we are finally free to be who He called us to be. We can engage in a partnership with Him…Evangelism is partnership between God’s Spirit and our Obedience.” Pastor Pete WOW!!! Who doesn’t want to partner with God’s Spirit? I say I do, but am I always available and open to His call…
Your Love for one another will prove to the world that you are my Disciples. John 13:35
Application/Challenge:
Everyday we are presented with opportunities to evangelize to those around us. Evangelism is a spiritual growth ingredient and when we share our faith with others, our faith also grows! Are you sharing your story of salvation and your relationship with Jesus to others? Are you inviting friends, family members, neighbors and co workers to church? For some, these are very difficult propositions and that’s OK!! There are so many opportunities to serve here at Thrive.
Take time to learn how God has wired you. This exercise will help steer you toward your best evangelism opportunities. Meditate on the question, How will you partner with God to Evangelize?
Will you respond, “Here am I” when he calls?
