“Finish What you’ve Started”
By Ron Mosca
Verse:
The Shipwreck
39 Now when it was day, they did not recognize the land, but they noticed a bay with a beach, on which they planned if possible to run the ship ashore. 40 So they cast off the anchors and left them in the sea, at the same time loosening the ropes that tied the rudders. Then hoisting the foresail to the wind they made for the beach. 41 But striking a reef, they ran the vessel aground. The bow stuck and remained immovable, and the stern was being broken up by the surf. 42 the soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any should swim away and escape. 43 But the centurion, wishing to save Paul, kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and make for the land, 44 and the rest on planks or on pieces of the ship. And so it was that all were brought safely to land.
Thoughts:
Thank You Pastor Raynard!! Powerful word this weekend, filled with challenges and promises as we roll into the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Pastor Raynard touched on some things that really hit home with me. What have I started that I haven’t finished yet? I’m sure if you ask my wife, Samantha, she’s got a few projects that I’ve started but haven’t finished, but I believe, more to the Pastor’s point, in our walk with Jesus, what have we have started but haven’t finished?
Bible in a year, a chapter a day, serve more, give more…the list goes on and on.
Pastor then touched on something else that resonates with me, a struggle and a desire all rolled up in one. As I paraphrase Pastor Raynard, the more time we spend with Him, the more we look like Him. I need to surrender my plan to grow with Jesus and allow Him to lead me. I regularly use the excuse of being too busy to spend quiet time with Him and keep up with my Bible reading. That’s exactly where the growth happens and where the relationship grows. This is where the time spent brings the desired results. What good things are you willing to give up to receive great things? What about my day-to-day routine can I change to deliberately make time to spend with Him? It’s up to me to be purposeful in my time management.
Pastor followed up with the understanding that pain doesn’t disqualify you from purpose. I struggle with different things, but knowing that I belong to Him brings great peace to my OH SO BUSY mind. I need to continue to be deliberate in where my time is spent more than anything else. I want my relationship with Jesus to continue to grow. The devil can’t handle you and Jesus! I need Jesus on my ship to keep me from sinking always!
Application:
Finish what you start! Reflect more, read more, serve more and grow more.
Be deliberate.

Keep Growing!!
